Pregnancy Update: 34 Weeks! Plus~ Read the writing on the wall and Preschool

It's been a while since I updated about the pregnancy, so I thought I'd jump on and post some pictures. I'm 34 weeks now and crossing my fingers I have only about 4-5 weeks to go. See, in all of my pregnancies I end up having an early ultrasound for one reason or another and at that point, my due date is moved up. Even then, I've never actually made it to even my adjusted due date. Other than HOW it came to be, this pregnancy has actually been fairly complication-free! So I didn't have a real early ultrasound- we only took a quick peek at my first midwife appointment. At that point the baby was 9 weeks- and it was very obvious that the baby was developed beyond 9 weeks. We tried to get a quick measurement but this little boy would not stay still, so we gave up and decided, eh, I'll just be prepared to go early. So I'm planning on being ready at 36 weeks, but hoping baby stays put until around 38 weeks.

I won't go into how I'm feeling. Suffice it to say the latter part of pregnancy is really hard. Add in 4 kids, 2 blogs, a husband in grad school and maintaining a household and you'll get a glimpse into my life.

I have a list of To-Do's and am slowly working my way through it. See, adding in to the equation is the fact that we've decided to sell our house and move next year (Spring-ish) so we're also trying to tackle a few home projects before the weather turns too. Fun.

We have a name for the baby (Adam Curtis) and he will be bunking with Adrian and I for likely the duration of us being in our house. So we've cleared a corner and set up the changing table, rocking chair and his dresser. Thank heavens for our oversized master bedroom! The dresser is full of clean little baby boy clothes and the changing table has a few packages of newborn diapers. Along the side of the dresser we also have stocked up on 2 boxes of size 1 & 1-2 diapers. I feel like things are really coming together! We still have to wash the Pack N Play (it's super dusty!) and set that up, but I've got a couple more weeks for that.

I took several pictures a couple weeks ago at 32 weeks and planned to update then. I actually updated on Utah Deal Diva, but the info never made it over here, lol. So here are some cute pictures of me and the kids at 32 weeks!

I have to say too, it's been pretty hard for me to feel excited about this pregnancy. I know some reading this couldn't ever understand why, but really it was not just unplanned it was very, very prevented! I could have never guessed I'd feel like this. So yeah, it's been rough for me. At any rate, the kids are so incredibly thrilled and that has really helped me get excited. Leah thinks there is a baby in her belly too and Hailey, Colin and Leah talk to and kiss my belly every single day. Sometimes I'm just hot and tired and want them to leave me alone, but most of the time I think it's really cute.

32 weeks

I thought this shot was so cute. Taken from my view point.

Leah, showing me her baby.

Belly to belly!

Saying cheese! Notice anything different about me?? I got my braces off! YEAH! I still have these fancy plastic retainers I need to wear for a while, but it's fun to not have braces on. I only had them on for 9.5 months- I was an over achiever!!

In other news... I didn't really want to write a whole separate post for these two things, so I thought I'd include them here...

Colin showed Leah how to color on the walls! How awesome is that?!? Not. They really did a number on it- the entire length of the wall has crayon on it. In multiple colors. The funniest part was when Colin tried to blame it on Leah, lol. Ummm... yes, she grew #1, then she learned how to write the words "Colin" and "Leah" since the drawings were each labeled. Nice try, kid! I cleaned about 95% of it off with a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser, then left Colin with a wet rag to do the rest. For about 3 hours. It wasn't a whole lot of fun and I'm thinking he won't be coloring on the walls for a while, at least.

This cute little boy had his first day of Preschool today! This is his 2nd year of preschool since he has an early October birthday, so it's not as big of a deal as it was last year. He knows what to do and where to go, so his first day was seamless. He was so excited though- this kid NEEDS stimulation! He's so ready for Kindergarten already... oh well!

The Color Run, August 24th, 2013!

Last weekend we had the fun experience of running The Color Run! Ok, so I sat out, along with Christy, Adrian's mom as well as Hailey, Colin and Leah. Still, we were there for moral support and it was fun!

The whole gist of this particular 5K is that 4 times throughout the race you go through color checkpoints where you're doused with powdered color. It's just dyed cornstarch, but glancing at the pics, you get the idea. You start the race with a while shirt and clean hair and you end the race looking like a Smurf. Or something along those lines. I got the tickets for free from blogging about the race, but it was so much fun I think we're hoping it becomes a yearly tradition!

Thomas and Adrian ran, along with Tiffany, Adrian's sister, her son Matthew and a few of their friends.

Thomas has gotten to be quite the runner! He and Adrian trained for the race by running on weekends. He's to the point where running 3 miles isn't such a big deal anymore. Here they are stretching and getting ready to run!

Thomas and Matt, before the race.

We positioned ourselves outside the starting line. They did several heats of runners, so we were constantly scanning the crowd as they ran by, trying to see Adrian and Thomas. Luckily Adrian decided to look at his phone and reply to my text, so eventually we had a decent idea as to when they'd run by.

See Adrian? He's towards the right raising his hands in the air. I literally just had to raise my phone above my head and click, crossing my fingers someone we knew was in the frame, lol!

See Thomas there in the middle. It's his back. He was running too fast!

We then went over to the finish line to wait and catch them as they came in. We had snacks and watched all the runners go by. Then Hailey and Colin saw piles of color powder on the ground and decided to join in on the fun. By the way, I'm writing this a week later and Hailey STILL has a hot pink scalp, despite the 3 showers she's since taken!

Thomas towards the right, coming into the finish line.

It wasn't really a timed race or anything, so they stopped and posed for a picture for me.

Here are Hailey and Colin towards the end. They got worse though. Much worse. Funny though, the race coordinators had these guys positioned with big leaf blowers after the race was over. You stand in front of them and they attempt to blow as much color off you as possible, so that you can drive home without dumping color all over the car. It kind of worked. Still fun though!

Leah Does A Somersault!!

Leah has been trying to do a somersault for a couple weeks now and she finally did it on August 12th!  She turned 21 months on the 13th- not too shabby for a toddler!

The video on my phone isn't working well- the sound is really muted. At any rate, you can see it even if you don't get the added bonus of hearing all our cheers. Go Leah!!

Final Score: Colin- 0, Colin's Collarbone, 1

A few weeks ago the kids were particularly energetic after church. I went to go take a nap and Adrian sent them all  out to the backyard to run around.

Not long after I hear Colin crying. It's nothing out of the ordinary- Colin can be rough & tumble one minute, then really emotional the next. I guess they were playing football and he landed right on his shoulder. I was still resting and Adrian was taking care of it, so I tried to go back to sleep. About 30 minutes later I lost the battle with my nap so I got up and noticed Colin was sitting very still in the office by Adrian. OK, now that's not normal! He was really favoring his shoulder and Adrian thought he might have dislocated it. Together we got Colin's shirt off and with just one look we both knew something was wrong here! So Adrian took him to the Urgent Care clinic nearby.

By the time they were there and being seen, all that crying had worn Colin out and he fell asleep. The dr came in and she and Adrian talked about what happened. She touched Colin's chest near his shoulder just once and in an instant he was AWAKE and crying out in pain! An x-ray revealed he'd actually broken his collarbone!

He had to wear a sling with a wrap for a couple weeks, but now he seems fine. Crazy kid! We go back next week for another X-ray to verify its healed correctly. Can I tell you, it will be a miracle if that bone is in the right place. Getting Colin to sit still for 2 weeks was darn near impossible!

So there it is- our family's first broken bone! It was only the 2nd time we've ever had to take a kid to urgent care too.  I'm sure it won't be the last!
