Fun Fall Fieldtrip, 12/2014

A couple weeks ago Adrian commented that he needed to drive an hour north to take pictures of a bridge for a project he was doing in school. On a whim I suggested we make a day of it and that's what we did.

It was so fun. We just spent the day hanging out with the kids- finding little adventures and having new experiences. While Adrian was taking pictures of the bridge and water underneath it, the kids and I visited with these fun horses. We fed them grass and just enjoyed the moment.

In an attempt to break up the amount of time we were in the car, I did some online research and found a cool park to stop by on the way home. It was amazing! Perfect time of the day to take pictures to so I was in heaven.

There was a playground that the kids loved of course. Adrian and I were reminded again that Adam has no fear or desire for self preservation. The kid went head-first down the slide, ran down steep hills and repeatedly tried to jump in the pond. Sigh. I drew the line at the tall slides- my blood pressure needed a break.

The pond was so cool. We are definitely going back to this park just to see the pond again. There were so many great photo ops- I was taking as many as I could before the sun went down!

As we began feeding the ducks, they started swimming across the pond, towards us in droves. Some of the kids liked that more than others!

Such a neat place! I made the kids sit for some pictures:

Pumpkin Patch 2014

We wanted to go to the pumpkin patch while my mom was still here visiting. It's always a fun tradition and Adam was so young last year we didn't end up going.

The weather was gorgeous so I was convinced we were going to have the perfect outing. Ha! About 5 minutes after we arrived we were swarmed with Mosquitos. They were everywhere. It ended up being the fastest trip to the pumpkin patch ever. Kind of sad, but what can you do?? We got pumpkins; mission accomplished.

Apparently all the histamine from the mosquito bites affected Adrian. That's the only explanation I can come up with.
Look, even Adam's confused.

Adam Turns 1 Year Old!

Our sweet Adam turned 1 on October 3rd. I can't believe it's been a year already. Seems like just yesterday Adrian and I were staring in shock at the positive pregnancy test!

The last year has been a whirlwind to say the least. Adam is...active. Times 10. He's easily our craziest, most determined and fearless child. He started walking at barely 10 months old and now climbs anything, runs, pulls stuff off the counters and tries to open doors. I'm contemplating transforming the playroom into a padded room. (for Adam or myself, I'm not quite sure!)

I took some pictures of Adam today while walking around the yard. I love how they turned out! I think they capture the fun, free spirit that Adam is.

Adam is obviously doing well in the mobility department! Verbally he's also doing pretty good. He says Mama and Dada, wow, uh oh, ooooh, and very recently bye. Although he alternated it with die and well, that's kind of creepy so let's move on.

Adams 1 year stats: 32" tall (off the charts!) and 23 lbs (80th%)

He adores all the toys he got for his birthday, especially the green pull frog and the helicopter. He also plays with dolls and gives them slobbery kisses which we all think is adorable.

Since birth Adam hasn't been the greatest sleeper but I'm happy to report at about 7/8 months, something clicked and since then he's done really well. He plays hard and sleeps hard- sleeping easily 12 hours at night and taking two 2-3 hour naps during the day. It's pure bliss.

Here's to many more birthdays for our little cutie!
